Still pregnant.

at the pretty uncomfortable stage, feeling huge and hating heartburn. However, everytime I have a little contraction or whatever, I think, oh wait, I still have more sewing and wrapping to do, so I suppose I should either get my xmas wrapping done and finish my sewing projects! ha ha

but the bags are packed, half of the stuff is in Naples already, extra clothes for the kids, my Birthhouse bag with stuff for baby and me, and the other half that Ihadn’t quite finished last week will end up there this thursday for my next appt. we’re keeping the new infant car seat in the trunk just in case ;)

Kids went through a terrible sleep regression, up like 6 times each b/w 10:30 and 3 and more than half the time ending up in bed with us earlier than we prefer. They seem to be back on track the last few nights which is a relief. Lily has been weaned a whole week and a day now and she isn’t finding our replacement bedtime routines to meet her favor. She’d MUCH prefer to stay up and play with toys unil Luke and I go to bed, then fall asleep with us and wake up in her crib surprised at how she got there. It’s not thrilling. At least most of the time she is in a good mood when she plays.  She even humors our bedtime routines, pj’s, brush teeth, read books in the parents bed so as not to distract Bruce’s routine by crawling on his HEAD while he is read books she doesn’t prefer….then when it’s time to be sung to sleep she’s all, nah, let’s play. ahhhhhhhhhh

Our friends organized a surprise baby shower for us and disguised it as a holiday party which we had thought would be fun to co-host with them anyway. ha ha that was fun. Since then I have been able to buy g-dipes for the baby and some more cloth dipes and other necessary items. Really terribly exciting things like….infant tylenol and gas drops….but more fun things too like burts bees baby wash and body lotion, and of course, I LOVE buying new cloth dipes, so there I confessed the nerd in me. I bought this one kind, kissaluvs countours (fancier pre-folds), oh my gosh they are sooooo soft, I can’t wait to use them.

I was mildly disappointed because most newborn dipes start at 8 lbs and my babies usually start at 7, so I did break down and buy some disposables for the first few weeks. sniff sniff. I really wanted the baby to be decked out in the grateful red g-dipe the first few weeks, but unless he/she bulks up CONSIDERABLY in the next week (s) before being born, it’s not happening.  sniff sniff

but seriously, it’s a LOT of fun to buy things for the baby, and feel like he/she gets his/her own things and not all hand me downs. We got a brand new infant carrier, and it almost sorta fits in the toyota. sort of.

I also got some mommy things, mama bees belly butter and leg cream because seriously with this child I get an unbelievable amount of leg cramps. ugh. I even got us both some fancy homemade herbal creams from the birthhouse (one of the midwive’s sisters makes herbal creams and teas and things for mamas and babies in VT and they keep some around for sale, very cool).

anyway, listening to Christmas music, watching the snow fall, wrapping presents and generally being in a good mood about the season. Even got the tree saturaday and it’s happily decorated and all lit up most of the day. Also finally got an advent wreath saturday and the kids and I reviewed the first two weeks and lit the candles today as part of school…very cool.

ok, time to get kiddos napping.
